Allensville
Allensville is an idyllic rural village located Menno Township part of “Big Valley” as known by the locals. It is a wide stunning valley located between Jacks Mountain and Standing Mountain. Formally known as Kishacoquillas Valley it’s named after Chief Kishacoquillas of the Shawnee tribe, who befriended early area settlers. Be sure to go slow because on any given day you will see countless horse drawn buggies and children on bikes and scooters. If you would like to enjoy your own carriage ride, public carriage rides are offered by Dayze Gone Bye Carriage Rides. As you travel down Big Valley Pike you will see small hand painted signs offering the bounty of the gardens for sale. Many local tradesmen and craftsman also have shops beside their home. So, take some time and read the signs you never know what you will find. If you’re hungry a local favorite is the Heritage Family Restaurant. They offer true yummy home cooking from the menu or a buffet with fresh homemade dishes and desserts, that guests travel from miles and miles around to enjoy. Either way you will be glad you came. Don’t forget to stop at Allensville Donuts and get a dozen or two to take home with you. The Allensville Volunteer Fire Company has numerous opportunities to fellowship. Local favorites are their annual festival, chicken barbeques, and annual consignment auction. The auction brings people from all corners to bid on authentic Amish quilts and other handmade goods in support of the volunteer fire company.Allensville Photo Gallery
